Ponderings of Life Healing Community

I have been away from here awhile. Busy painting and preparing a room in my home where I can go to meditate and study. The room is finished now and it has become a very happy and spiritual spot to be. It is a bright and cheerful refuge and it is a joy to be in this space that Creator, my Guides and I have created.

As I worked on this room my mind drifted often to Life Healing Community and I would feel the land and all that it has to offer anyone who is brave enough to travel there and experience its healing and its love for themselves. This land welcomes you and greets you with such joy when you arrive and so too does Shaman Elder Maggie who Creator sent to this land to prepare it for all who are to come seeking healing. She works hard on this land and has spent considerable time and effort making it ready to receive visitors. The work to ready the land continues even now.
My thoughts many times went to the pond and as I worked away on my room I could feel the ponds love. I could feel it cleansing me and healing me as if I were standing beside it on its bank. I wanted to sit in the grass there beside the pond and just be with her feeling her joy, her love, and her healing energy. I could feel a warm breeze on my skin and hear the birds in the trees. I could hear cicadas, and crickets, and the frogs singing....loudly.
Once you have been to this land, it stays with you, and if you will let yourself be open to it the healing and blessings continue on for a time after you have left and returned home. For me it is always there with me even two years after my return home.

The day after I finished painting my room I was sitting with a nice cup of tea perusing my seed catalogs and looking forward to spring and planting my gardens and I thought of Shaman Elder Maggie and how she would very soon be planting her small veggie garden in preparation for the visitors who will soon be arriving there. I thought about how she works with the Elementals and with Mother Earth herself when she plants her garden so that her veggies will be the best they can possibly be and provide the best nourishment possible for all who might eat this food.

I am planning a journey to Life Healing Community this year.

There is a fountain in the pond, walking trails with places to stop and sit and receive the healing that the land offers to all who visit. There are places to stop and have a picnic or read while healing is received.

Experiencing The Land - My first visit to Life Healing Community by Darill

The moment you step onto the land at Life Healing Community you know you have landed someplace special. Tension, pain, and suffering drain away. A peacefulness surrounds you and all worry melts away.

There is a pond on this land. It is a loving and healing pond. I have sat beside it and felt it reach up and embrace me like a loving mother and pull all my woes away. I have stood at its edge and listened to it as it cleansed and healed me.

Time means nothing in this beautiful place. I went for a walk one day. It felt like I had been walking for over an hour but when I turned around to look back, I saw that I was only a hundred yards from where I had begun my walk. I walked on and on. When I felt I had been gone long enough I turned back. I thought surely I had been gone for a good two hours but when I returned I discovered that I had been out walking for only half an hour. I had plenty of time left in the day to do many other things if I wanted to.

There are things on this land that you would have to see for yourself to believe. I could tell you these things but that would give you a preconceived idea of what you will see there. I don't believe anyone should go there expecting to have the same experience as someone else has had. Everyone's experience will be different and unique to them. If you are going to be healed, then you will be healed in what ever manor of healing you need.

I believe that everyone should go there with an open mind and open heart and have their own life changing experience. And your life will be changed after being on the land at Life Healing Community, and the blessings from being there will continue to come to you for six months after being there. All you have to do is let the blessings happen.

There is now a trail built on the land to walk. There are places where you can stop and sit on a bench and enjoy the peace and healing of the spot. There are many other new things at Life Healing Community and I look forward to returning there this year to see all that is new so I can tell you all about it.

My First Healing at Life Healing Community

On January 22^nd of 2008, I flew cross-country from Seattle, Washington to Life Healing Community, a sacred place in the Ozarks of Missouri where many people have gone for healing of various kinds and have received in abundance.

I had originally planned on just soaking in the blessings of this quiet 17 acres of woods and visiting my esteemed teacher, Shaman Maggie Wahls, who lives in a small house on the land. I had been studying with her for about a year and a half and we had become very close, as we emailed each other every couple of days. I have lots of questions and she has lots of experience walking this path as a lifelong traditional indigenous shaman healer of the body, soul and spirit. And she lovingly guides me along despite my odd questions and my stumbling mishaps.

My loving Creator thankfully had bigger plans for my trip.

When I booked my flight in early January, I had begun dueling with another acute onslaught of anxiety, a problem that had plagued me at least since young adulthood. I’d been coping quite well since coming off the anxiety medication that I’d been on since 1995. Learning and practicing balance in my life was really helping me deal with my old disabling patterned responses by giving me new ways of seeing myself and my world. However, as with many issues in our lives, anxiety is a problem that is quite complex. Like an onion, it affects the many layers of one’s life, all of which need to be addressed to be truly healed.

I had again begun to dread and fear new experiences. Because of some winter illness, I became worried as I anticipated my inability keep up with others on some planned hikes. I dreaded letting other people down. Then I became worried about my trip to Missouri, that I wouldn’t be able to answer the questions my teacher might ask me, or that I wouldn’t be able to function. None of these worries were anything I had experienced in my adult life, but rather represented a worse-case scenario fantasy in my mind. These thoughts have the potential to spiral downward and lead to feelings of panic. I dropped 10 pounds from lack of appetite.

This is part of what Shaman Maggie wrote me before my visit, when I voiced all my concerns to her:

You know that there is healing here. You know that the power that Creator has given this place is filled with your healing in every way. You know that you only need to stand on this ground and receive the healing that Creator wishes to give you in every way. It has nothing to do with me or you. Come and receive your healing from this anxiety just by being here.

When I arrived at Life Healing Community www.lifehealingcommunity.com,

I was received with open arms by Shaman Maggie and the healing energy of the land.

On my first morning there I spent time doing homework. I needed to determine what others expect of me and what I expect of myself. I soon realized that I believed that other people expect me to do everything right all the time, that I hated that part of me that couldn’t do things to others’ satisfaction. Then I realized that most of this stemmed from my inability to succeed in grade school, where no matter what I did or how much I studied and tried, I wasn’t able to meet my teachers’ expectations. I realized that my self-worth was tied up in what I do versus who I am. At some level, I felt that what the Creator thought of me wasn’t enough.

My healing continued as I meditated and communed with my guides and with nature there. Then that afternoon I sat with Shaman Maggie in her living room and she helped me to see how these ideas about who I am were untrue to me as an adult. She helped me to see that these thoughts were the thoughts of a child and how I’d progressed and grown since then. I realized that people don’t expect these things of me and that these ideas are hindering me from living my life fully now. Was I able to stop allowing my misconceptions of what others think of me rule my life? That part of me that wants to be in control of my own life and make my own decisions became angry. I was challenged to tell myself that no idea or person will stop me from living my life fully and joyfully, and that who I am is enough.

The truth of how deeply I’m loved and cherished by my Creator sunk in even deeper during my time there. I can’t wait to go back!

I'd been back to Life Healing Community many times since then. After 12 years on anti-anxiety medication, I no longer need to take it as I no longer have any anxiety. I also received a healing there from Hyperthyroidism and no longer need medication for that, either. The healings I received on this sacred land continued working in me and I continue to receive new blessings every day.

Why visit Life Healing Community?

Each time I visit LHC, I can feel the incredible love that permeates the land. Just as you might feel the spray from a waterfall upon your face, you can feel the loving energies of LHC. I have found it to feel like a nurturing warmth; I can feel it resonate in my bones and into the depths of my heart and spirit. It has touched places no human will ever touch. Everything is perfectly ok as it is, with no expectation, no requirement to be or do anything, other than just be yourself.

When I lay there on the bed at night, I would listen to the frogs and crickets and also sense something far more alive. A buzzing of energy that reaches out to touch you. To just sit quietly on the land is deeply healing, but you might find that you are encouraged to investigate and seek out a spot that is calling to you. A place where you will receive the healing that you may need.

To visit LHC, is an opportunity to step out of the pressures of every day life and experience a place where time appears to stop. When you experience this, it is possible to take this with you into ordinary life. I can stop what I am doing and reflect on the energies of LHC, which I can still feel in the deepest parts of my being. My spirit is instantly refreshed, as I am able to touch this place within me that was embraced at LHC. It is not something that can be taken away from me, but I have found it grows, even though I live 5000 miles away!

But the main reason I go back to LHC time and again, is because I feel the deepest sense of love there that I have ever, or will ever, experience. It is the love of God/Creator/Source/Oneness and it teaches me that I am loved unreservedly. I can’t possibly imagine a more powerful place to reach my Source than LHC and each time I visit, I am surprised by the depth of love and healing that is there. Each time I have visited I have come away a more wholesome person, like something that was missing, has been put back into place. I can breathe more deeply, standing in my own presence feeling completely refreshed. I have received unexpected physical, emotional, mental and spiritual healing, in profound ways. Gifts to take away with me that I will cherish always.

Life Healing Community is a sacred healing ground of 17 acres located in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri, where the common physical laws of time and space do not apply.
